Why was Volta_ born?

 

What is the origin and purpose of our brand?
Volta_ was born out of the internal need of its founders to bring about a change in people’s way of life and housing is the ideal way to achieve this.

 

Why bring about a change in the way of life? Why housing?
Nowadays, due to the large amount of stimuli and information we receive and the life we have built, we live in a continuous autopilot, completely disconnected from the now. Life is reduced to those daily moments when you look your child in the eye, when you take a shower after exercising, or stop for a second to look at the sky… but they are fleeting moments. It is in those moments when we make conscious decisions and when we feel truly alive.

Architecture, like other arts, has the capacity to make us experience sublime moments that connect us with the now and reality. In particular, the home as an intimate and personal space is the perfect place to begin this much-needed change.

 

We like to say that the home is the most important architectural space in our lives, a space in which we can connect with ourselves and full consciousness. That is why we have chosen to specialise in it.

 

Interestingly, and according to the statistics, it is the man-made place where we spend the most time in our lives. We spend 90% of our time in man-made interiors, and a large part of this time in our home… home sweet home.

The reality is that, in the general case of housing in Spain, the aesthetic, design or composition part has been replaced by empty fashions that expire every two years and the functional part has been limited to complying with a series of urban planning regulations, completely forgetting the real needs of people. At Volta_ we are very critical of this and we are determined to use our time and effort to change this.

 

Functional beauty

We think beauty works, and it works to the extent that it makes us feel better. Beauty makes us connect with the now and transports us to a new state of consciousness. For this very reason, design is so important in our homes. The combination of function and beauty is, in a way, indivisible.

The search for beauty is not optional, nor a whim, it is more than ever a necessity in our lives.

It has been a lost opportunity for many years in Spain, where, house by house, entire cities have been built in which economic profitability has taken precedence over the quality of housing. Our aim as a brand is to highlight the importance of housing in our lives and to raise awareness as far as possible that the space you live in affects the way you live, think, relate to others, etc. YOU ARE WHAT YOU INHABIT.

The home proposed by Volta_ is a well thought out and functional home that invites you to live in a more conscious way. In fact, we understand housing as an extension of your person: when you enter your home you enter yourself and connect with the present, with the now.

The dwelling is the space in which you move, within the walls, and not so much the objects.

 

“When we design a house we like to think that we are not designing an object but a way of living, that way of living is the one we design for our client, knowing their habits and needs.”.

 

 

Reach many people, generate a drift

Our brand does not only aim to make a few homes that propose a change in people’s lives, but to change the established concept and the general awareness in Spain of what a home should be. We want to make a sufficient number of homes to generate a new and different drift in the sector, increase the standard of quality and propose a product that hardly exists in Spain.

In fact, the raison d’être of the Volta_ blog is to be able to express ourselves in a more direct way and transmit a message that helps us to generate the change we want. We know that alone it is very difficult, but we can start something that will grow with the help of others. We hope that many will join the cause.

Having a laudable goal to work towards every day gives meaning to our time, work and life.

 

The value of truth

Of all the values that can define our personality as a company, perhaps “truth” is the one behind every decision. Truth transcends, confronts and makes us reflect. We live in a society in which the trampantojo is imposed, a lot of appearing to be what it is not, or doing things without knowing very well why.

In the same way that when you connect with a person by looking into their eyes and you know that what they tell you is true, it happens in everything around us, the perception of truth is closely related to beauty and the eternal. As St. Augustine said “beauty is the radiance of truth”.

We have a very big responsibility, the responsibility of someone who is aware that things can be done better and that a space can change our emotions, sensations, habits, actions and, therefore, produce changes in our lives.

The value is not in the object, but in what the individual feels when living in the space provided by the object. In Volta_ we flee from formalisms and passing fashions.
