The real luxury is the space

The owners, a family with three children, were looking for a large house in the center where they could enjoy the space without giving up the lifestyle and comfort of the city.

*Note: at the end of the report there are photos of the previous state of the house.

The project

For them, the sensory experience of space is a luxury, so it was essential to keep the interior design project within the concept of the absence of elements, the search for elegance away from ostentation and the superfluous. The supremacy of space over anything else.

The house, located in one of the most emblematic avenues of the city of Alicante, near the Paseo de la Explanada and the marina, consists of two floors joined by a useful area of 400 m. The distribution was, together with the door frames, doors and some other original elements of the house, aspects that they wanted to preserve partially in the reform project.

The terrace

The terrace did not exist as such, it was an imagination exercise, the idea of creating a green space within the same room, a greenhouse with views to the city, a reading space, a corner to meditate or even the perfect place for a dinner with friends on warm summer nights. It also helps to configure different environments within a space of more than 80m2.

The protagonists are materials such as oven-lacquered iron hardware, the pavement made up of strips of marble, or the pillar lined with black lacquered iron sheet metal on this unique terrace.

The office

Reminiscences of the American 50’s Diner. Wallpaper with motifs that remind us of the jungle and in the same range of copper colors that we find on the chairs that accompany the two tables; two large black ceiling lamps that hang over the tables to create a more intimate atmosphere; green upholstered sofa with pieces made to measure, a color that is also found in the pattern of the paper that decorates the wall. Two wall lights project a warm light on the wall. The brass finishes, both on the tables and on the continuous bench, is the material that we find throughout the house, providing a touch of elegance without falling into ostentation. Explicitly designed by Volta_ for this space and that can be combined to make a family meal.

It is a space that invites us to a quiet breakfast with a good read or an informal lunch or dinner, one of the favorite corners of the owners.< /p>

The kitchen

The kitchen is another of the star spaces of the house, a family gathering place thanks to its large bench and the entrance of natural light. The structure of the kitchen island has been made of oak wood with the legs finished in brass, a detail that can be seen in other furniture in the house, designed by Volta_.

Another important detail is that a refrigerated wine cellar has been custom-designed in the kitchen, made of oven-baked black lacquered iron.

Guttman ceiling hood. Custom cabinet handles designed by Volta_ and baked lacquered.

The dressing room

Recovered dressing room cabinet doors, Formani brass handles. The rest of the handles are brass plates custom designed by Volta_. Oak veneered cabinet interior. Oak floor in Punta Umbría.

The main bathroom

Bathroom cabinet with brass front and marble top, custom mirror with brass rivets. Hansgrohe Axor Critterio taps. Paper on the side cloth.

Shower

Dolomite marble both on the walls and on the floor with break-up of boards and brass plate inlays. Hansgrohe Axor Critterio faucets.
